Cuff links: one pair purchased, and one pair questionable

I recently got these, I had to look up what a tie tack was I like the idea, although it's a downer to make a hole in a nice tie. But I like to have matching things!

I found these on a swedish auction site. I don't know what I think about them. I haven't seen a "locking mechanism" like that before. Are they old or new? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I've two pair like the second set. The toggle back goes through the hole in the cuff, the chain goes around the outside edge of the cuff, and over the toggle, then the toggle is closed. It's more of a '50s and '60s thing.

You could attach the tack to the keeper/label on the back of the tie. I use a similar device to keep my tie in line, as it has a tendency to drift, especially with double breasted jackets.

50's-60's you say. Interesting at that price, around $6 + shipping. I might do some bidding, although that era is not my main one. Thank you for your interest and information!

tie tacks do not need to and should not make 'holes' in your tie.

The pins on mine are not that sharp, and what you do is gently 'worry' the post through the front of the tie, going between the weave of the material.

When you remove the post, the fabric self closes the hole.

If you push it in quickly, you can snag the tie material and ruin your tie.

Just be careful.
