I am embarking on a bowtie project. Going for a Batwing/Charvet Cut in Loro Piana Bordeaux Wool. Similar to those from E. Tautz (which are made by Drakes of London)
My only worry is that I have noticed that all silk (plain and patterned) & woven wool bowties (patterned) are cut on the bias. As I only plan to make a single bow, I don't want to have to buy a huge area of fabric.
(Loro Piana wool is more than 50 euros a meter as well!)
Does a Plain woven wool bow need to be cut on the bias as well? I can understand the need for a bias cut with a plain silk, but will it really make that much difference with a plain wool fabric?
I hope to post some photos when i am finished.
Thanks,
Angus
