Nope, the USPS is a non-government funded organization. As of 1970, the government relinquished government control of U.S. mail. The government still makes and enforces the laws regarding abuse of the mail system (mail fraud, terrorism, etc.) but it does not fund it. Sorry to burst your postal clerk's bubble.
