I just priced a pair of stock boss boots at alcaras at 589$. Wesco has the same boot for 489. Anybody have any idea what the deal is there? Ive never shopped through alcaras, but it seems odd theyd have a product listed that far over msrp. Wesco is a 15 week wait, but i work hard for my money, i have boots to wear and i can wait if this is just what alcara does.

I’m late. What’s the deal with the Horween Horsehide shortage? Specifically for engineers being made? I’d like to make another one through Wesco but I’ve been seeing the option no longer available.

First I've heard about that. Perhaps a knock-on effect from Covid lockdown last spring and possibly cases among tannery workers throughout 2020?

The shortage was mentioned on s+s website on the Wesco Van Cleef 3 pre-order page.

NOTE: Due to the Great Horween Leather Shortage of 2021, we are not accepting orders of this boot until further notice.

That old pair certainly has a lot of character. Perfectly aged.

My first pair of engineers, Wesco Mister Lou. Feels great on my feet, but boy was it hard to get them on.

Sounds like you bought them in the D width instead of E width.

Nope, it's 7.5E, but my high instep makes it more difficult to get on than I'd like. I'm sure it'll get easier with time, but they sure feel great once on the feet.

It appears HPA is no longer carrying Lone Wolf boots and has some great discounts available.

I bought a pair of 9.5s in March from Charles. After the Engineers I asked about the Carpenters but was told Lone Wolf was stopping export to the US entirely. What a damn shame.
