I have a very old (or just poorly treated) hat. The hat band is embossed with:
XXX
STETSON
in block letters, not the usual Stetson logo. It has a simple fabric band with feathers that are mostly worn off.
It appears to be pretty good quality felt. I just have it to keep my head dry so it's perfect for me but I am curious.
I figure that this could be:
A fake
A very old Stetson
A low end Stetson, possibly sold bulk to some Government organization.
Can anyone explain this?
