You wanna see high pants + noir, check out Edmond O'Brien in the 1946 version of The Killers with Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner. The guy could've packed a sawed-off in his waistband and you wouldn't have noticed.

Does anyone remember In Living Color? The blonde actress whose name escapes me did a hilarious 1940s gal, speech pattern and all!
I remember she was the only one in the scene in black & white. lol

Other than just "oddball" I wonder what Grimley is supposed to represent? When I first saw the character on SCTV, I assumed he was sort of from another era -- which one, I don't know.
