Japanese WWII submarine found off Papua New Guinea

The Dutch ship, Hr. Ms. KXVI, was sunk with her crew of 36 on December 26, 1941.

The exact identity of the Japanese midget sub is unknown, but it could have been scuttled late in the war, or sunk by air or naval bombardment.
