"Frankie Manning had a fall in a shower in Paris -- no, he was not
dancing in the shower as has been rumored (-: He damaged the hip
replacement he has had for 15 years, which has served him well.
He had to have the old replacement removed -- cement, titanium and
all. Now he has a brand new hip replacement and is currently doing
beautifully in rehab at the hospital. Well wishers can send cards and

About 18 years ago, when Frankie was a mere lad of about 76, I was MC-ing for the NY Swing Dance Society. When it was time for the Shim Sham Frankie jumped up on the stage like a rabbit. I said "Judy, he's got the body of a 17 year old!". She winked at me and said "Tell me."
He's a phenomenon.

You know, he makes getting older a lot less scary to me. If I could have that kind of spirit when I get to be that age, I look forward to it.
Hope he's back on his feet soon.
