So sorry this happened to my friend. Even though I don’t know you I consider all members of the lounge as friends. I hope you can recoup your money. Thanks for the heads up on more possible frauds towards the lounge family. Damn, I am truly sorry for this happening to you.

This guy contacted me regarding my WTB Schott racer. Used the exact line you mention.
I am sorry this happened.
Thanks for the warning.

I also got a message from fedralman and Damian0, but their accounts were gone (banned?) before I could view them.

We had a similar case over on VLJ. A member sold a jacket to a man in Russia using pp . The buyer claimed the parcel contained an old blanket so did a charge back. The seller lost his cash and his jacket.
A few weeks passed by.....I had a pm from a Russian member who was in the 'Special Police ', offering to help. He found the rogue member and did a home visit....the victim got his money and his jacket back.

That grinds my gears. Here's an additional tip for next time. I asked for (pick your hand emoji) over the item to buy, caught a sneaky of someone posting his boots with a less worn picture, not here in FL. Sux that FF is off the table now a days.

Very frustrating. I also got these messages from my WTB thread. I understand using PayPal goods and services seems better but PayPal is super shifty and unpredictable. It's a coin flip whether you are buyer or seller how it goes.

Mister FRENCH CANCAN, I am truly sorry to hear that your payment was stolen (that a registered member took your payment with no intention of shipping you the jacket you bought).

I am wondering if PayPal is able to run security/fraud checks on who you “stole” your $$, the PayPal account that was used and tracking to their financial account. It may turn up nothing or may find something useful.

TFL Admins, do you keep records or can you run reports on the IP address used at the time of TFL account registration? Thinking that all info that the perpetrator(s) input when registering is useless/fake, try detecting the the IP address fingerprint that may be available if they weren’t using a VPN.

It would be good if our members followed a “safe” process to use before they buy from a “new” member. (Having other “known members” vouch for a new member’s “proof of previous sales”.)
If the member cannot get anyone to vouch for them, and if you still want to proceed, use a method of payment that has a guarantee such as PP Goods and Services or similar. Spend the extra $30 in this case could have helped greatly in refunding the loss.
Just my opinion of course.
It is not TFL mod duty to police the forum for ****. It is our duty as members to flag **** posts and otherwise call-out BS as we see fit.

Imo no mod here should be involved in "policing", pulling IPs, etc. Not only does this expose them to legal issues, but it's asking a lot of people who receive nothing.

Use protection unless you are very comfortable with the other party or otherwise accepting of potentially getting burned.

Same rules apply to your *** life.

This guy was a member here as well. Although he had a high post count, he had never actually posted any of his jackets: all his posts were "cool jacket", "this jacket fits you nice", "amazing boots", etc. Be careful people. Don't check only post count but also the actual posts.

come on guys most obvious **** ever
Only the last week there have been at least two different threads here warning about this type of ****.

Only the illiteracy degree alone would make me reluctant to deal with such "faune". He can barely write a comprehensible message yet he affords to own jackets worh thousands of dollars.

These PMs in response to WTB are a common way to attempt to separate the WTB member from his cash. When you get one, use the Report button. Copy and paste the message you received from the potential s cammer, and one of us will deal with it.

When banning a member, we have the option of deleting all of the members PMs or leaving them. I normally leave them so the intended victim has a record of what was said.

The important thing is to report the potential s cam. If we don't know about it, we can't do anything about it.

i currently get these messages, always the same about once every 36h, there appears to be either a very motivated individual or an organized **** group targeting this forum. i suggest closing registration for a few weeks or putting up a minimum amount of posts before new members can use pm function.
