Took a chance on this jacket, it’s too small for me. Asking $2,550 shipped in the continental USA for the jacket, what I paid for it. Shipped via usps priority. Payment via PayPal friends and family or Zelle.

For sale: An incredibly rare, original Mid-1940s Northeaster Flying Togs horsehide Aviator / Motorcycle Jacket, complete with original felt motorcycle club patch, period studwork, and 1948 motorcycle pin.
Northeaster Flying Togs jackets are widely regarded among collectors as some of the finest examples of early-to-mid 20th century American motorcycle and aviation wear. While documentation is limited, it is generally believed these jackets were produced in Everett, Massachusetts by Leathertogs, possibly for or distributed by Beck of New York City.
Original Northeaster Flying Togs jackets rarely come to market, particularly in largely intact condition.

Measurements

(Please see photos for measurement references.)

  • Shoulder to shoulder: approximately 18 inches

  • Armpit to armpit (laid flat): approximately 19.25–19.5 inches, depending on how the jacket is positioned
Please allow for slight variance due to manual measurement.

Condition

This is an all-original example that remains structurally sound and highly presentable, showing honest age consistent with an approximately 80-year-old garment.

  • All original zippers are present and functional

  • Original lining remains intact overall

  • Chinstrap and buttons remain present

  • All original snaps remain intact; due to age, storage, and patina they are somewhat stiff and require firm pressure to open and close — consistent with period hardware

  • Original sleeve and hem studwork present, including the name “Lewie”

  • Original felt motorcycle club patch featuring the cougar design

  • Original 1948 motorcycle pin affixed at the D-pocket zip opening
The brown mid-1940s horsehide is thick and substantial, displaying excellent natural patina. There are no major tears or structural damage to the hide.
Condition notes (as pictured):

  • Minor stitching separation along the back torso side seam area (a few inches at most)

  • Small area of stitching separation on the left sleeve

  • Inner left sleeve rayon lining has partially come loose but fabric remains present

  • North & Judd marked belt buckle has come loose from the buckle frame; belt, loops, and hardware remain intact
Please review photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and clearly show the noted areas.

This is a true vintage garment and signs of wear should be expected. Any significant damage would be disclosed.
Feel free to reach out with any questions prior to purchasing.
