Panamas at the Venetian

There's a beach shop at the Venetian that sells Brent Black Panamas. Unfortunately, they don't take good care of the merchandise and the last time I was there some crowns were dry and cracked. But, you can take a look at the overall style and quality.

Because LV in in the desert with less than 5% humidity and then the casino air conditioning sucks out any remaining moisture. After that, the sales droids let the unwashed masses handle the hats by the crowns or whatever. It's a sad situation, but I guess the shop owners are raking in enough on all the overpriced stuff that they don't need to take care of the merchandise.

I've talked to Brent about it. He's offered to rotate the stock back into his humid Hawaiian atmosphere and clean them up, but the beach shop owner won't even spring for the shipping.

I think Lido Beach Store is run by the Venetian. Its buyers are part of the hotel/casino megaplex. They are totally ignorant of fine hats and don't want to be bothered to learn. They just want expensive tropical stuff to fill their store and to recapture a few bucks from the big winners. Brent offered to help them out, but it's too much of a hassle for them. They just write off the damaged goods and call it a day.

Colt: The hat store I would be checking out in Vegas is the D bar J hat Company, their address is: 3873 Spring Mountain Road, LV 89102.

I just got a hat off ebay that was custom made at their shop. Most of their hats are western, but I notice on their website that they have some lovely looking fedoras, hombergs and the like. And lots of custom western hats.

Check themt ot on www.dbarjhats.com

Click in on the side to Shelby's hats. Also Aaron's hats. I have no idea about their prices but am curious about their operation.

Have a fun trip! Let us know what you find.
