VINTAGE BORSALINO AD

Hello loungers,

Does anyone have an image of a particular
Borsa ad;
It's an illustration of a very sharp Latin wearing a tall crown
fedora, illustrated from the shoulders up,
he's wearing a raincoat and gloves, circa late 1920s
early 1930s.
He appears to be deep in thought, with a shoreline
in the background.

Please pm me if you know where I might aquire a
copy or two.

I know where there is one...but I would rather not
ask to borrow it for a Kinko's run (would put the 'T'
in Tacky!)

Over time, it has always been a challenge to describe the nature of the protective covering in the crown of the liner on vintage lids -- you know, the translucent film that was used before plastic became the norm. What's interesting to me about this ad is the description: "Full oil silk protector." I assume that's what this phrase refers to...

(I also love the reference to "the $10 hat buyer"...)

Confirmed. Now we know what to call it.

...unless it's the waxy paper behind the sweat. They've got the sweat flipped out in the photo where it's mentioned.

If that binding gets any wider, the entire brim will be ribbon.

These pics are great ! I have not seen many of these at all and I have a huge collection of ads. The most interesting are the Brazilian ones from Ramenzioni. This company is still in business today . I'd love to see a vintage hat from them.
