I resurrected this thread because my Googling for more info on old Florsheim Imperials, of which I happen to have a couple of pairs (thrift store finds, in both cases) brought me here.

Both of my pairs have what PoohBang calls the "V cleat," that pie-slice-shaped chunk o' metal at the heel edge. I take it this is an indication these are old shoes, then? Judging from what I've read, it seems that Florsheims just aren't what they used to be. That appears the prevalent view, anyway. Me, I don't know enough to have an opinion worth more than what it cost you, but be that as it may, these (presumably) old Florheims of mine appear to be quality goods.

According to which, the leather-heeled Florsheims with V cleats were last made in 1993. Not all that long ago.
