How Do You Wear Your Hat?

I am right-handed, but usually slightly to the left. It feels more natural on my head that way.

Deciding which side to covk it to was easy for me. One of my ears is somewhat noticeably higher than the other, so I **** it towards that ear to that I get about a finger's width between ear and brim pn both sides.

With wide-brimmed hats and westerns, I try to wear them Eastwood style, straight and nearly parallel to the ground. Adjustments if becessary are then made from there.

I always tilt to the right. I wouldn't be capable of putting on a hat straight if I tried. Even if I did it in front of a mirror I would still have problems avoiding a sidetilt. lol
When I try a tilt to the left, it feels very unnatural on my head.
Btw, I'm right-handed and put my hat on with the left hand.

It depends on the hat for me. I have a couple of them that seem to want to tilt more to the right side and I only notice it when I see myself with it on in a mirror. In other words, I don't intentionally tilt it---it just seems to happen.

Depends on the hat. A fedora usually ends up tilted back, a little tilted down on the left.

I usually tilt my hat towards the sun to block it out. At night I wear it straight and level. When indoors (in an area where I wouldn't remove my hat) I wear it tipped back as it feels a little to much like I'm hiding under the brim when worn flat.

I usually wear my fedoras with a little "Southside Slide"; tipped down a bit over the left eye since my right eyebrow tends to ride up and my head is shaped funny.

I try to level out the westerns.

I think I usually wear my fedoras tilted a bit forward and sideways. They're shorter brimmed ones though, and I've got a wider brimmed one coming. I'm not sure if I'll pull the wider brimmed as far down forward as I do with the shorter brimmed ones, but I'll probably keep a bit of a sideways tilt.

I normally give mine a tug down a bit on the front brim to keep it on tighter, with hopes the wind won't decide to make me chase it. Yeah most of my hats have a wind trolley, but lazy me I have not yet used that feature of any of my hats. Just not too fond of thinking any of my hats would become a makeshift kite! I think in my own way, my hat just seems to sit pulled down and snug. I do like how it looks, I pay attention to it being even on both sides looking at the center of the hat.

Blame the drill sergeants! I cannot put a hat on without making sure it is aligned properly, straight and level. Be it a western, a baseball cap, a beret, or propeller hat; the hat has to be straight.

I can still hear their words. "If you can't put your cover on correctly, how do you ever expect to do anything else correctly?!?!" What followed was often a unique rain storm of head gear. One person's hat this way, another hat that way, look out it is coming at you!

So, for me, just straight and level.

Just depends for me. Sometimes it's straight and level, sometimes a little tilt, If I'm a little warm or sweating I'll tilt it back off my forehead a little. Often, if I put it on without looking in a mirror (most of the time) it's not quite square front to back. I've tried to train myself to put it on correctly without looking in a mirror but it ends up crooked more than not.

Frank Sinatra was right on!! How you wear a hat tells a LOT about you. The subtleties of the position of your lid haven't been discussed in a long time, and could be overlooked by our newer folks. Or, in my case, the old folks... Heck, in Chicago if you wear your lid wrong, you could be killed, but that's a whole other talk show.

We need to have a consolidated approach to this topic, rather than the fragments of threads touching on various aspects. (Bartenders?)

To re-start, lets take a look at an extreme hat tilter from long ago, Tom Thumb...

And, it's not just the tilt, but fore or aft on the noggin, etc.

Damn, I am not sure what this tells about me but I think each hat has a unique way about it and it kinda tells me how it should be worn.
