This beautiful fine Irish wool tweed Norfolk with the characteristic half belt and classic four button pocket configuration. Although this was made in the 50's, (named and dated 53 or 55 (handwritten), it has a very 40's tailored look (just look at the photos as they say it all), with high armholes, tailored hour-glass figure, high upper button to the front to give a shallow V-neck and lovely spearhead collared lapels. By Appointment to British Royalty no less - famous London W1 cloth purveyors of Tweed and Outdoor jackets to the English Gentry, John Hardy has got the label in the lining just to make sure you know it!
This delightful Gentleman's garment is single vented to the back (see photo) with four buttons single breasted to the front.

To quote on some history regarding the pedigree of this item:
John G Hardy
Almost 100 years ago John G Hardy founded the company, which today holds the undisputed position of market leader for the supply of elegant country fabrics. The founder, being something of an eccentric gentleman, became well known for, having collected his fabric samples, returning to London with them stacked under his top hat. He was one of the first cloth merchants to visit the Scottish Highlands and Islands and claimed to have introduced Shetland and Harris Tweed cloths to the major markets of the world.
In 1929 the Duke of York, who was to become His Majesty King George VI, used a John G Hardy cloth for the regimental Tweed of the Brigade of Guards. He was the Colonel in Chief of the regiment and the cloth consisted of Black and White with Royal Blue and Crimson colouration.
The company is privileged to hold Royal Warrants, which were granted in the mid 1930s for the supply of Balmoral Tweed fabrics to the Royal Household.
The jacket was tailored by the prestigious tailors, Isaac Walton & Co. Ltd. bespoke tailors since 1887. Specialists in Gamekeepers outdoor clothing and shooting suits. They still make bespoke garments for the Gentleman and one can still buy starched collars and Gent's hats there.
