Irvin Kershner, a name synonymous to many with the second Star Wars feature The Empire Strikes Back, died today.
I am not a Star Wars fan, I have seen all the films yes and I enjoy them, but I am not a fan. But I cannot stress enough how much I love the Empire Strikes Back as a stand alone film and compared to the rest of the movies.
The most unusual thing is that earlier this morning, I was watching the Empire Strikes Back on TNT as part of their original trilogy marathon. And when I learned of Mr. Kershner's death, I thought to myself "what a coincidence."
Below are some photos of the famed director goofing around with the stars and creatures of The Empire Strikes Back. While he also directed movies of other fame, none touch me more so than this film.
Rest In Peace, Sir. Thank you for creating wonderful films for us to enjoy.
