It Is Belladonna Season

Too bad you can't also enjoy the fragrance. We found some of these at a house being demolished several years ago, then a bunch more at yet another house being demolished a few years after that. I have researched them, and the bulbs are available commercially. The leaves die off in June, then they send up a red-brown flower stalk in late July to early August.

Very pretty. They (Lycoris squamigera)are called Resurrection Lily in this part of the country.

Smuterella is right, her pic is Belladonna (poisonous, btw). What you have there is Amaryllis.
Also known as "Naked Ladies" due to the leafless stem.
My sister once dressed all of them in doll clothes...
