Don't know a lot about the brand. Keeps time well. Love the "lollypop" second hand. Does have small radium "dots" around the dial marking every five minutes/seconds. Do not wear often so do not keep up with the day numerator....

Helbros is a brand I remember growing up. Started in the early 1900s, it was bought by Elgin in the mid 60s. It produced quality watches until the 1970s when accurate and inexpensive quartz watches from Japan forced it out of business. Today its quality pieces are becoming collector's items. The iconic Mickey Mouse watch is one of those, along with Helbros non novelty and quality watches.

Not a vintage watch by any means, but am considering a Vaer A5 tactical field watch, which is a mechanical all black piece. Anyone have any opinions on it/the brand? There is a solar version as well which I might go with.

Am also considering this Timex:

I don’t know much about Vaer, but is there a specific style or complication you’re looking for on a watch? Price range etc? There’s lots of great options out there from Microbrands to all the major ones too.
