Here we have something special, A Dobbs "GAME BIRD" from the Mid 50's (Was introduced in the 40's). It has the felted ribbon as most of the earlier ones do (Game Bird was introduced in the 40's with the felted ribbon). It also has that awesome silk embroidered logo on the liner tip. This one has the fine soft felt you dream of with a nice shade of medium-dark Brown with a heathered undertones!!!!! Brim is a little over 2 1/4" under-welt with a 5 1/4" open crown. Lining is in good condition but does have a good deal of foxing (yellow spotting due to oxidation over time of the chemical residue in the fabric from manufacturing). I did remove the stitched in liner to soak and lessen the foxing effect to a good degree and replaced it without sewing or gluing (it is simply set in place behind the sweat). The color of the felt is even and shows no wear, mothing or color loss. It is simply some of the nicest felt I have handled. Sweat is intact and supple (I did treat it with Lexol), the reed does exhibit some chipping consummate with the age. Otherwise a nice clean mid-50's example!!! So feel free to swoop in like a "Game Bird" and get this nice hat!!!! TRADE or $190 post paid to the lower 48 (contact me for shipping quote elsewhere) PayPal FF please. Would rather sell here than on the "Bay". Thank you!!
Really a special Bird Mark! My size and LO to boot! Trying to raise funds right now for my new custom from Mike Miller, so I have to resist...but my will power sucks... Spending the morning moving hat posts to the front and center of the Leather Fetish Page. Just my gift to all of us hat crazies.
Hey man, good luck selling your hats, but nobody is stopping you from posting your hat posts, why do you have to disparage what other people post?
Not disparaging at all. I'm just working at putting hat posts on the front page. The admins would be helpful to make a specific hat classified to augment the vintage clothing section. We have been asking for this for years. I love reading the leather coat posts, I just don't really need any more. It just seems that all that show up on the classified is this type of vintage garment posts. No worries.
Yes, It is a cool hat. The felt is one of their "Gamebird Mixtures" hence the heathered appearance...... I really do not like "selling" hats and much prefer a trade...but right now I am cash poor for any new hats myself......so am actually offering a few for a purchase price......but again would rather work a trade.
