what an incredible band, band leader and entertainer .. lot of similarities between him, his band and ellington and his orchestra.
on the bandstand, if bob heard you repeat yourself, he wasn't happy ; )
and .. band never knew who he was going to give the "ride" to so you had to always be heads up watching .. when you were finished he wanted you, smiling, to give it back to him.
