Patsy was a songwriter herself, or at least is credited on some great stuff.
Patsy is still alive. Yes, she was a prolific songwriter, having been credited with co writing a bunch of hits with Ed, including Cowboys. She wrote The Man That Turned My Mama On by herself. Tanya Tucker had the original version, and Ed covered it.

I think she still lives on a farm in the same county where I live, just south of Nashville. She has aged well:

Interesting. I may have to find some of his music.
Guitar, banjo & fiddle; not sure if he plays mandolin or not. Plays bluegrass & Civil War era music. Not Jack White quality but very good. I enjoy his style.

PS: If you like such music you might enjoy the music of Cathy Barton & Dave Para, local Missouri husband & wife musicians. Sadly Cathy passed from cancer just a few yrs ago. She was excellent on banjo & most traditional oldtime instruments.
