The website links below show the best vintage necktie collection I have ever seen, on or off the Web. More than 50% are superb in quality and design, and the quantity is massive -- be prepared to lose an hour of your life looking at these ties.

For some strange reason, the finest ties appear in the second half of each link. You can save some time by immediately scrolling down to the halfway mark, and viewing from there onward.

The very best are already marked "sold" or "on hold", so you might wish to look upon the experience as a visual educational, rather than a buying spree. My only criticism is that many thin '50s ties are labeled here as '20 ties. Other than that, the website does a fine job.

I have bought things from this dealer, he is very honest & good to deal with.
However if you want to start a swing tie collection your best bet is Ebay, look under swing ties, vintage ties, 1940's ties, deco ties & handpainted ties are some search ideas. There are number of regular collectors whose handles you will see on a regular basis there. Regarding condition if not steted in the auction listing email the seller before bidding to avoid hard feelings/unwearable ties.

The strength of this guy's website is that so much is there all at once. You can give yourself an excellent visual education without having to click all over the place, day after day, as you'd have to do on eBay. As for buying ties, I agree with you that eBay offers better bargains.

I'm glad my Grandmother saved all of my Grandfather's ties, I inherited a large box of ties from the 1930's through the 50's.

I love the 40's ones.

A friend of mine is a collector of vintage 1940's American neckties. He sent the pics below (and others) of his collection to his friends and family last year. He's a nice chap and we talk often about all things "vintage". I've seen his collection once in person, and it is truly is a sight to behold...
