Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a find from yesterday and hopefully get some insight from the experts here.
I came across this AMC Sportswear leather jacket, but I honestly don’t know anything about the brand or the era. The main neck label looks 1940s–1950s to me, but the jacket has a YKK zipper, which feels a bit unusual for something from that period or could be a replaced one. There are also no additional tags inside besides the main one.
I’ve seen some people online mention that AMC pieces were horsehide, but I’m not sure, the leather feels thick and sturdy, but I don’t want to jump to conclusions.
I’m also open to selling this jacket, which is why I’d really like to understand what it is first age, leather type, anything that could help me represent it accurately.
If anyone here is familiar with AMC Sportswear, the tag, the typical hides they used, or the zipper situation, I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!
