You have a good eye. It does have a dimensional brim. I think we settled on 1/4" wider at front and back.

Worf, there is a hatter in Buffalo named Gary White. I've never done business with him, but he has been active for a long time and has made hats for a number of films. On his web site he says he will refurbish and restore hats, too. That's got to be an easier drive than the Pacific Northwest

I've also heard good things about Salmagundi in Boston.

Not this time. I forget to do that and I wish I could remember. It's amazing what a reblock and a changing of the ribbon and edge binding can do for a hat. I've had several "beaters" I've taken to Mike and traded them for some time and materials on other hats and then after he's rebuilt them I've had traders remorse. They looked great and I wished I had kept them. I'm glad I kept this one.

He put a small satin badge in the crown rather than a regular liner to make it cooler in the summer. Mike sews those in by hand and you can't see a single stitch. I don't know how he does it. He did his usual top notch work on it.

I'm not at all surprised about the sewing of the tipper. That's quite standard, and not hard to do. What's really baffling about that hat is the brim binding - and how that was sewn. In my eyes that is by far the most top notch work on that hat

Mike at NorthWest Hats did a fantastic job on the brim binding as well on my hat its tight & flush with the felt
& he does sew in the tipper for linerless hats. I cant see any stiches & its tight in there.
I had it a month so far & its a Winner
I had him make a Pandora a long while ago good fun hat
Pretty good sizing as well im between 7 1/8 & 1/4 & LO so just by my measurements he nailed the fit...

here are some fresh pics & ive worn it about a dozen times so far & I dig it.

color is Sand

pretty straight blocking, crown is 6'' open & 5 1/8'' creased

2 1/4''brim, 1 3/4''ribbon

finely pounced & lite & squishy like vintage hats ,,, no helmet here !

tight detail on the binding & the rear seam is flush & no stiches showing

I requested interior as shown, I dont like linings in my customs, good leather too..

Fancy ribbon work, looks like some Aztec pyramid detail

I can't decide which I like more, the hat or the shirt. Both look great. I love the bow work.

He does absolutely wonderful work. This is my first custom, in Navy Blue beaver felt with a 6" open crown and 2 1/2" in brim. He also made a larger version for my older brother as well.
