Open Road Oreanna Bash

I purchased an Open Road beater and decided to see what I could do with it. I'd seen a bash that looked like a Montana Peak from the front but had only one big dent in the back. I've since seen this called Two Dents & a Mule Kick and an Oreanna. I kinda like the ist one as it seems appropriate. Anyway, here's my attempt at it.

Interior - the stains are from the glue used on the liner

I like the look. It doesn't look like something you see everyday and it has a workingman's look
I wouldn't call it pretty. The hat is still in need of a better cleaning than I can do and the old Cattleman's Creases are still noticable.

Carter, Not a bad look, not bad at all. I once did an Open Road with a Gus crease and a Mule Kick in back. I wore the brim down front and back, like you've done here. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Thanks, J.T., I plan on putting the liner back in once I figure out how to get this hat cleaner. Do you have any suggestions regarding cleaning and removing the old creases?

Nah, he's a mutt, 1/2 Aussie and 1/2 German Shepherd by his manly exterior. I believe he is in Lounger's Pets with his buddy Blanca. I gave him a hat once but he ate it. No more hats for that boyo.

Carter, I've had some success with a stain remover stick, and letting it stand several hours before washing in cold water and mild deyergent. Some success with lamp oil (99% pure paraffin) dabbed on the spots, and waiting about an hour before washing. Sadly, there are still some stains I haven't yet mastered. Good luck.

JT, I just ordered some cleaner from Noggin Tops last Thursday. I'm hoping this will help. Where do you purchase a stain remover stick? When washing, do you immerse the entire hat? As you can tell, I've never attempted to wash a hat.

RBH, Thnks for your feedback. I really like the variety of blocks you can do with a less formal hat. Old OR's seem to lend themselves to this kind of experimentation.

GentllemanFarmer, Thanks for that feedback.

In the laundry aids aisle at any super market or everybody's favorite big discount store.

Yes, I immerse the entire hat. Using cold water and allowing slow drying, there is rarely any shrinking. Shape the hat while still damp. It will keep the shape it dries in. For your oval fit, be sure to try it on several times in the course of drying. It takes a couple of days to dry completely.

JT, Since I now have a 7 1/2 block and a 2 3/4 flange, Should I stretch the hat, with the sweatbandband in, over the block after washing?

Dean, Thanks.
