Opinions on this “fast teacore” hide

I’ve been trying out a few different black teacore hides to find one I really like. My local leather distributor has several hundred feet of this hide available, so I bought enough to give it a test drive. Once it’s gone, it will be gone. I’m kinda shocked by how fast this is losing its topcoat and going full Mad Max. This jacket has about 8 hours of wear…. It already looks 10 years old. I know there are some who detest a “fast teacore”, but most people I’ve shown the jacket to really dig it. I have no clue what this will look like in a year.. the hide is very sturdy and showing some character beyond the color loss. Should I buy more for future jacket endeavors?

Love the hide and the thread and thickness. Are you using Tex 90 or 105?

Thanks for the feedback. I’m just a DIY guy to the core. I bought a sewing machine to make motorcycle seat covers, but it spiraled into jackets instead..

Love the hide and the thread and thickness. Are you using Tex 90 or 105?

Thanks Photo. Tex 100. Gutermann Mara 30 poly wrapped poly core. Plays really nicely and has a nice feel. I also use cotton wrapped poly core Tex 90 in some situations.

It’s pigment, and doesn’t seem to be rubbing off on anything, just disappearing..

What kind of machine is good for these projects?

Unison feed industrial machines. I have a Cobra flat bed and a Consew cylinder arm. Vintage Singer for the linings..
