LOL! I have a friend who's a pretty good plastic surgeon, but if my patients didn't recognize me I would go broke.

  2. Ok, so a couple of weeks ago I was in this antique mall......saw this hat and lost my mind! Now as a rule....I really, really, do not like these cloth hats......maybe it was because it was my size.....maybe the deep olive plaid (which does not show in the picts).....maybe because it had a wider than normal brim and ribbon ( just over a 2 inch brim) and a taller crown (4 1/2 at the front pinch). Maybe it was because it was only $9........and MAYBE it was because it made me think of this 1911 ad I have.....
    IMG_20190425_172619.jpg
Now of course THIS hat is not that old........probebly 60's......and until now I did not have a cloth hat example...........but then.........maybe I really DID loose my mind!
    Anyway, here it is...... 20190425_163022.jpg 20190425_163125.jpg 20190425_163208.jpg 20190425_163230.jpg

Keith just told me that if he makes the Argonne he will be able to make a fantastic pattern that has a style all its own, so I asked him to make it that way, Doug.
I also asked him to make the darts pointy, and he replied that more rounded are more refined and difficult to make, but I like them marked anyway.

Just bought this cap from Keith Lo Bue, of The Well Dressed Head. The pictures are his, of course.

The LE MANS - 1920s Style Flat Cap in Shrunken Sheepskin Leather with Horsehide Visor and Vintage Kimono Liner.

I had been resisting the urge to buy it for some time. When he told me this was a one off, because he can't find more of the shrunken sheepskin, my resolve gave way.

In the words of Alfred P. Doolitle, Eliza's father, "with a little bit of luck, when temptation comes you'll give right in."[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Great hat, Max. And anyone who quotes My Fair Lady is alright with me...just a reinforcement for you, my friend. :)

LOL! It was my Mom's favorite movie. I must have watched it with her at least twelve times, and we sang the lyrics together.

    My favorite line is
"They're always throwing goodness at you
But, with a little bit of luck a man can duck."

Your stock keeps going up, Max. It’s a favorite at my house too. My kids loved all those ‘50s and ‘60s movies. It wasn’t until they were teenagers that they started watching contemporary films.

Ha, the crack has emerged. It's inevitable now. Just wait til you smell the leather and then you'll be jonesin' for a jacket too.

I have 2 leather jackets and they are both too heavy to wear in warm weather.... I guess I need a lightweight pigskin or lambskin jacket for warmer weather??? LOL.

Where have I heard that before? Someone needs to buy some of those leather jackets that are clogging up the Classifieds. I place your hat in the ring!

Just bought these two from @Miamibruno.
    First, Stetson "The Spectator".
I had never seen one before, and Adrián hadn't either.
It looks a little like my Cavanagh, at the end.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
