What an extraordinary read! The last paragraph about watching her father make form-fitting, B&W contrasting riding jackets is intriguing-- it would be amazing to find photos of some more of his personal designs. Thanks for the share! The same guy also found Rita Chow’s memoir.
Interesting read. Has a few good tidbits. One of which was that all of Peter’s children (Ronald, Ruth and Rita) worked at the leather shop in some capacity! His wife May handled sales.
The PDF is too large to upload so I’m attaching screenshots of the pages.

Interesting that she concluded by saying “artistry was in the genes.” It echoed almost exactly what the grandson—a noted sculptor—of the Trojan Leather owner said when asked about his grandfather, Joseph Schwartz. The same guy also found Rita Chow’s memoir.

This type of thoughtfulness elevates this forum. Thanks again all for this realllly deep dive into the humanity of the hands behind the jackets we covet.Of course, I’m glad he contacted me!
In writing with him he said when he contacted and spoke with Rita, while being in her 90’s, was still sharp and when he asked about the double square collar jacket, she said: “Oh! The pilots jacket! That was very popular”
Here are a few Peter’s designs.

John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Alan would be a great source for the bay area leather industry. This Peter's post got me thinking that we need to do one for Johnson's while Alan is (hopefully) still around. I may be visiting SF in the spring.
Dang, those are beautiful and in great shape. Thanks for sharing.
