More pics of my new Borsalino Safari. The listing said it was a size 7 that fit more like a 7 1/8, but after 4 hours on a custom band block it fits just fine. Maybe because the stitching in the back of the sweatband is torn. The listing also said there is no "apparent" moth damage, but there are some very shallow nibbles easily taken care of with some sand paper.
The stitching on the brim will have to be removed, as it is badly torn. I am thinking of asking Ignacio to curl the brim a little.
It is soiled and stained, but that will easily come off with Ignacio's Ethyl Perchlorate.
It often mystifies me why online sellers, even some of the best, like Jula and Roberto of City Vintage on Etsy, don't bother to give their hats a good white gas bath. It would increase the value.
The felt on the Brim is stiff and thick, but malleable, and the crown is soft.

Both are rare birds, Max. The Borsalino may even be more rare than the Dobbs Game Bird. I do like the look of that Dobbs though; very cool hat.

And I just got 35 more.

My brother-in-law, Juan Carlos, arrived in Mexico City at 3:00 am, so I am taking inventory.

The one I like the most is my second Flagship. I like it even better than the first.

And I thought I was bad! Holy moly, Max, Santa needed an extra span of reindeer for all of those. Can't wait for the full report on these.

Most are pretty wrinkled from transport, and some will need cleaning.
Ignacio and I will have a lot of work to do.
I really like my new Art Fawcett. Really nice, thin felt. I bet by midday it will be conformed to my head by the hat block

One of my best from this batch. Stetson Sport-Lite. I was really worried it wouldn't fit me, because the listing said it was a 7 1/8, but there is a tag that says it is 7 1/4, and I put it in one of my custom band blocks overnight and it feels as if Ignacio had conformed it.

The heathered felt is very, very soft and obedient, almost floppy but not quite. It feels like my Crofut and Knapp.

The ribbon is unusual. I had never seen one like it. I don't know if it is original to the hat, but it seems old. It is still wrinkled from being stacked for transport from the US, although I steamed it already. Maybe it will iron out with repeated steaming.

I put Pecard Antique Leather conditioner on the sweatband, but it was like new already.

Impeccable hat. No wonder Alan, Bowen, and Justin liked it so much.

My second Flagship. I remember Alan saying not long ago that it seemed that every time he encountered a rare hat, others appeared shortly after.

I looked for my first Flagship for several months, and now a second appeared in Goodwill, of all places. Thanks again, @justdaniel. I hope you can come to the posada tonight.

It came with an excellent 3X Stetson, although that one is 7 1/2, so I will have to pad it. The Flagship is 7 3/8, so it is a little loose, but wearable as-is. Both are in almost pristine condition.

The name "Flagship" and the plane are so cool, beautiful hat. I can see why they are so desirable :)
I assume they can be considered an earlier version of the "Stratoliner" models?
When did Stetson last use the name "Flagship"?

Meister Filz. Funny, I don't remember buying this one. Maybe Stefan sent it as a gift with the one he sold me? Juan Carlos brought 35 hats with him, so I don't know.
Anyway, it is a size 57, according to the tag, but it is almost wearable for me. It is either mislabeled, or I have a transformer head. A week in a custom band block should do the trick.
Can you tell me more about this one, Stefan or Steven?
P.S. The dark spots in the felt are due to the steam I just finished applying to it. It was badly wrinkled from being stacked for transport, but it ironed out nicely.
And Ana thought I bought the best steamer for her. How naïve. [emoji2]

@steur or @Mayserwegener?

Gordon Somerset Quality. One of my best hats. I would put it in the "My Ten Best Hats" thread. Really beautiful felt, even better than my long hair Borsalino Gorasgu.
Outstanding. It was really expensive, but I don't regret buying it.
The most accurate color is the one on the seller's pics at the bottom.

Santa was early this year and brought some goodies. This one he seems to have had laying about for decades.
Borsalino Celesti in Caffe colour. Qualitá Extra Extra Superiore in a size 5 (57) with the brim at 6cm and the crown 10cm at the center dent. This one came in one of those coffin boxes and I was curious to see how it would turn out. More on that in the Borsalino brotherhood thread. Here's what it looks like now.

Apparently I've been a good boy. In the package there was this one too.
Borsalino Idorsca in black. Raw edge brim at 5cm and crown 10cm at the center dent. Windcord doesn't have a button and probably never had one. This is an early one and it's the beautiful liner that made me buy this one. Unusual embossed Borsalino brand emblem on the sweatband. This is an early one with a coloured edge around the label and a separate size label. If I'm not mistaken these are seen on thirties hats. I'm hoping I can make it work like Jude Law's hat in the second "fantastic beasts" movie (yeah, fat chance).
