What I believe to be a Modern Stetson Whippet Excellent Quality showed up today. I really wish it was a 7 1/2 not a 7 1/8, the felt is nice and soft. It will be headed to Ebay shortly.

I just can't post today without following someone's outstanding hat. I'm talking about you @Randall Renshaw . :p

This was a new one for me. A Chelson. It appears to be from the 1950s, but that is just a guess based on the sweatband color. @DaveProc has ads from 1927 to 1946 in the Vintage Hat Ads from Newspapers thread, but I don't know if that covers all the range.

The lineage goes back to at least 1911 when they made straws as Charles Levy's Sons.

Note the "CLS" in both logos. Perhaps "Chelson" is a play on Charles Levy's Sons.

1911:

1920s: Note the "Exclusively Hand Made" that is also in the logo of the hat above.

Nice score!
These lesser known makers are always fun to research.
When did the printer's bug on the union label go to the diagonal position? That might help to narrow down the date.

I have really been trying to stay off EBay lately but fell off the wagon this week and ended up with a hat I’ve wanted for awhile—a tan 1950s Stratoliner. It’s got a few miles on it, which I like as it makes it easier to slide it into the everyday rotation and not baby it too much.

Enjoy the weekend!

David
Nice find David! Looks great on you. I have my eye open for a Strat someday too.

I think most of us would have fallen off any wagon to get that one, David.

Nice catch!

Seems to be Stratoliners everywhere this morning.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Flexible", FP 6, 157 grams, possibly later 1920s early 1930s. The Form has less taper so straighter sides. This Stiff Felt was made for Czech market. Post WWI JHS Stiff Felt Paper Label Type 1a.

Would have been tough to stay on the wagon with that one tempting you! Nice.

Never had a Peschel disappoint me. Good score, Marcel.

Nice find! Good luck not looking at the auctions. I just let a sweet Knox go because I had already bought three hats in the past week. My wife checks the mail and says “What’s this? Looks like another hat…”
