I brought my recently received Agnoulita to a local milliner to have it modified. The bright white ribbon and binding simply where not what I expected when I selected them online and looked cheap.

I had the ribbon and binding replaced with a cream coloured one, with a different style bow. She even redid the button to match!

I think she did fantastic work, and now it actually looks like a premium hand made hat rather then something cheaply pressed out by a factory. Not a knock against Agnoulita but the ribbon was simply cheap looking.

Here for comparison the original as i received it:

I think its a night and day difference.

At the same time I also had a leather sweatband installed in one of my Panamas:

I think I remember you planning that. Wear it well.

Found this in a flea market in Jonesboro, Arkansas yesterday for $16. Thoroughbred 10X long-hair. My wife hates it, but I’ll check back in with her after I open the crown and flatten the brim. I love that it was purchased at a truck stop.

Hutfabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Graz "Flexible", FP 5 3/4, possibly 1930s. Old Hutfabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Graz hats are not common especially in my size. I believe this is Fur Felt with a Chamois like finish. Based on the condition it must not have been worn often. Also a FP quarter size 5 3/4 so 58.5cm. An extra bonus is that it came with the original cardboard shipping box which rarely survived.

Another beautiful example, Steve. I'm really curious about the sweat. It appears reeded on both sides.

Scary new hat story... ( and a warning that this is picture heavy) Box arrived totally open with two loose packed hats. Amazing they didnt fall out. Mailman actually knocked on my door so I could check before he scanned it as delivered ( I have a good mailman)

One hat is just a black Mallory that is a bit too big, ll find someone to gift it to but the other has me drooling! (Its what I bought the auction for) An older Stetson that I need a bit of ID help on. No liner present, but sweatband is intact. Reorder tag under sweat is hard to read (it is typed not handwritten). Royal Stetson embossing is fine as is the other gold embossed stamp from "the Buckner Ragsdale co". Older size tag shows 7-1/4 (any idea on approx year from the tag?). Same wide grosgrain edge binding as one of my newer Whippets. Hatband ribbon in grear shape with no stretching creases or fading. This thing has most likely been is a clean dark sealed box for a long time

Hat is in amazingly nice condition and so far has only had a light brushing. It has a diamond crease in the top. Im thrilled that it fits me fine. Appearance and size wise it is very similar to my newer Sovereign Whippet

Is anyone with more Stetson knowledge than I have able to school me as to exactly what I have? This was and IS a keeper NOT something for resale... I have zero interest in market value. I got it because it looks really good to me and it fits

Looks great on you. Glad nothing fell out of the box. The manufacturing tag pic was a bit blurry. But it looks like a mid 50s tag. So either a slight post Whippet “Whippet”. Or a non whippet whippet ;) Nice find!

Cool if its 50's..... that means I have a Whippitish thing from the 50s, 60s. and 70s!. This one must have been in a box in granpas closet for years..... its in better shape flt wise than my two newer ones.. Now Ive got a semi "real" one now! Ive assumed that with no "Whippet" embossing, that it was possible the same hat but just sold as some general Stetson mens hat...

Oh yeah. I think you can safely say 50s. That size tag with no Stetson lettering point to 50s as well. (I think early to mid 50s).

If I was to guess. And I know we can get in trouble with that. But I would guess this hat was made before the end of the original Whippet run. You do see stuff like that. Not sure the reason.. if stores didn’t want a model name.. or if there were slight variations in specs… that’s anyone’s guess. But it’s surely whippet styling and appears to have been made during the whippet heyday period.

Did just notice what appears to be a $10 price tag from Cape Girardeau Mo. on the back of the size tag. Im going to have to get a photo negative loupe out and see if I can make out the numbers on the build tag.. camera is just not cooperating

Just so it doesnt feel neglected, this little Stetson Mallory wool hat was the "Other" hat in the open box the postman delivered this morning. I figure it was worth $15-20 of the $50 bid... It cleaned up nicely and doesnt look bad, so Ill either turn it into a fall lawn mowing hat, or scotch guard the heck out of it and use it for a foul weather winter hat.... Or just find someone who doesn't have a hat and feed someone else's new addiction lol. Lesser hat or not, nothing goes to waste here!
