Received my Stetson Flagship today!!!

What a mess!!!!!!!

I knew it would be - it was presented clearly and fairly on EB. My hopes that I could keep the sweatband are dashed. :(

Felt benefitted from vigorous brushing but will need better cleaning.

Satin liner not bad after a little ironing. (It was separated from the hat but with it.)

The felt is incredible. Any dry bash one could imagine just holds right there.

Been wanting one of these for a long time. Now I'll be doing some restoration work to get it wearable.

I know, I know, PICTURES. Not the way it is. I'll do "Before" and "Afters" after.

Can't wait to see that one Gene....

This "Monoco" showed up Yesterday. I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep it though. [huh]
First off, even though it clearly states a size 7, it fits closer to a 7 1/8 or a tad larger. :eusa_doh:

Secondly, even though some of you state I can wear just about anything, (and I do appreciate that compliment immensely), I don't know if I can pull this style of hat off to be honest with you? lol

I really love the ribbed texture of this hat, it's the main reason as to why I got it, it makes it so unique, unlike anything I own for sure. The liner is in great shape, I wish I can say the same for the sweatband though. It's a very cheap one.

Has anybody every seen or heard of this brand of hat before? I've never seen this crest and I can't find it by searching (Google) the internet.....

I have no idea how old it is, but at any rate, here are a few pictures. If anyone might be interested in it, I'm still debating on letting it go.

That's felt...? Wow, I could've sworn it was Milan Straw. Is the mimicry intentional?
This is the way it came out of the box. [huh] Do you mean intentionally to mimic the look of a Straw Hat? I have no idea, because I've never seen or heard of this type of hat before.

Russ, that OR looks fantastic w/ the Diamond in it, great job on it......:eusa_clap

Nice diamond, Russ. What does it look like on your head? I'm waiting for a Campdraft. I hope it looks as good.

New Hats

In response to requests from some members in another thread here are a couple of shots of my new Campdraft in Silverbelly. Please excuse the picture quality they were taken on my cellphone. I dry bashed a rough diamond crease in this, though I intend to give the hat a soaking like I did my last Campdraft and improve the bash.

Here is a picture of my recently acquired Stetson Diamond Jim 8X shantung panama...and my 2 dogs:D

I also received a new Resistol Roughstock Futurity 5X western hat in black. Sorry no pics yet. This hat had a fairly flat brim, so I gave it a good dowsing with water, boy was that brim stiff, then gave it some hand curls in towards the front of the brim. It makes the brim and consequently the crown look a little smaller, which I prefer in a western hat. The amount of dye that came out in the soaking was unbelievable, good job I wasn't caught in a downpour wearing a white shirt:eek:

Nice, NIgel. I have one coming myself. I bought mine from Hatsdirect and I asked Ron to put a teardrop in it for me. I can bash a pretty good diamond myself, but I have trouble with teardrops and have to fiddle with them a lot. I was a bit surprised that Ron agreed to do it. They normally don't for mail order hats.

Stopped at the Bollman Hat Co...

I stopped at the Bollman Hat Company Outlet in Adamstown, PA today. I was taking my 85-year old father to get his first fedora in many years, and just happened to get there when they were having a 1/2-off sale. Needless to say, we both came back with a couple hats each.
One hat I bought was completely unremarkable, an off-white "Gangster"-style fedora with a dark brown band. It's unlined, and cheap, but would look nice when wearing my linen jacket. At 1/2 price it was only $5. I haven't taken pics of it yet.
I also bought a nicer Bailey wool-felt fedora called the Tango. This is a lined model (unlike the off-white Gangster) with a 2 1/2" brim. I really like the triple pleated pugaree it wears. It was $17.50 on sale. Here's a photo:

Since everyone says, "Let's see you wearing it", here's a pic of me doing just that:

Granted, they are both wool felt hats, not fur, but the price was definitely right.

Stetson Melorol

Vintage Stetson in the original box. Mint Condition. Labeled with "self-conforming" on the trademark.

Anyone know anything about the brand/hat? It is supposed to be a greenish toned black:eusa_doh: [huh]

I was watching that one, but can't remember seeing a "self-conforming" Stetson. Whatever it is, it looks interesting.
