P. & C. Habig Wein. Found it on Goodwill - about $40 all in. No idea if I got a good deal or not, but I like it. :) I wanted one from this maker. I love the liner. What do you guys think? Is it trite to say something, something, blah, blah, Oktoberfest? :D

As far as I'm concerned, if you could afford what you spent on it, and you're happy, you got a good deal! I'm not sure the Tyrolean style would look good on me, but it IS my size, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A nice Tyrolean flair - love it.

Second one:
A Sools in black made by Mossant. A Crusher Mossant it is. Unfortunally no label inside. Nice details are the ventholes on top of the crown and on the left and right side of the hat.

Great saves on both of them considering they were sent so carefully. :-;

Very nice, indeed!

Came in yesterday. Spent part of last night brushing, steaming and opening it up. Hat was worn but clean for its age. 3 X 5 3/4. LOT #7394. Very thin, pliable sweat that still retains its bell. First pic is as it came in.

Edit: I believe this is my first and only MO made hat.

I got a new Optimo in today that I impulse-bought off an eBay notification for $50 shipped before I even looked closely at the listing. At that price I figured the box alone was worth having, and worst case I was covered by buyer protection if something was off.

The listing called it “Oxblood” based on the box label, but the hat itself is clearly a midnight blue/blue-gray color. Under the liner there’s an internal swatch and handwritten production tag marked "60 #1 / 1166 Blue Pearl".

I'm surprised how stiff it is compared to my other Optimo fedora. The brim has almost a cardboard-like snap compared to the softer felt I’m used to. My Optimo “Bulldog” feels similarly stiff, so I’m assuming this was intentional for certain more formal city styles rather than a flaw. Curious what you guys think about that.

I believe this is my first underwelt brim. Is that correct terminology here?

Also interesting: this is the second Optimo I’ve owned where the sewn size tag says 59, but there’s an internal workshop notation indicating 60.

I'm not good with identifying particular models of hats. The spatial recognition software section of my brain is dysfunctional; I'm pretty sure those neurons are off doing other stuff most of the time. :)

Throw in one action shot in natural lighting :) Upon further research, I believe this may be their 'flagship' model "Chicago" in Blue Pearl. It looks to be about the right proportions, it has the underwelt brim, and the marketing language sounds like it has a fairly stiff feel.

It's a beauty, Greg. We don't see that many new hats from you, but when we do....

C. G. Wilke "Haar Special", 57 cm, Fur Felt, 150 grams, possibly 1930s. This is the finest C. G. Wilke Guben Stiff Felt I have come across and it's in excellent condition. The Black Felt has a very nice smooth finish. The one inch Band works really well with the sharp looking Bow design. All the Components are of high quality with the Sweatband being exceptional. Overall great workmanship.

The Off White Reeded Piping creates a pleasing contrast with the Light Brown Sweatband.
