Hello ladies and Gents, I have a few friends in the San Fran/Oakland area and I was looking on YouTube and found this clip. It is of San Francisco from about 1940-43 or so. All you hear is the sound of the film projector... so, when you fallow the link, you may want to have a good CD of 40's music playing to get that ol' nostalgic feeling.

Enjoy the color home footage and seeing daily life as it really was in the early 40's.

Thanks so much!

It's amazing how many of the signs and landmarks are still in San Francisco :) and how many are not.:(

Thank you for taking the time to post this; I really enjoyed it.

This is wonderful. We lived in San Francisco from 1958 until 1989 (31 years same address on Russian Hill), then in the East Bay from 1989 to 2006. Two addresses and two telephone numbers in 48 years ain't bad. I don't like moving! And yeah, I still remember our old SF PRospect telephone number. San Franncisco has changed so much, not for the good, but it's amazing how some things are much the same, especially China Town. It was really dreadful to watch the destruction of SF, that's one of the reasons we moved to the east bay. Although Berkeley Hills ain't that wonderful anymore, either. But now, we are on our farm in rural Colbert County, Alabama, so we longer have to watch the decay, except occasionally, since we have been back to SF 4 times in the last 10 months.
