What a great movie. Race track bookies are being forced to buy "protection" from a gangster. It was on Turner Classic Movie channel here on the East coast. It starred George Raft and William Bendix. Poor Harry Morgan(got killed). It seems Harry always got the supporting roles. But he does such a bang up job in his movies too. Seems he was in alot of movies with big names. The Glenn Miller story with James Stewart is one of my favorites with Morgan. He starred again with James Stewart in Strategic Air Command. Also a great movie. Loved the B-36 scenes. I remember one movie very early in his career where Harry Morgan starred as a chinese farmer in China battling swarms of locust. My question is.. any other good Harry(Henry early on) Morgan movies out there say pre 1965? He did a lot of westerns too. But I was looking for more of the mid to late 40's black and white type movies.

Harry Morgan tended to have small parts in the 1940s. I think he plays a soda jerk inOrchestra Wives. In Somewhere in the Night (good noir movie) he plays a shady guy working at a bath house.

On a side note, I once served him ice cream.

Sincerely,

Hey wolf that is cool what flavor? Was he just getting started in the 40's? I don't recall ever seeing him as a leading man( except as a chinese farmer), but what a great actor. Seems like he had a liking for horses in his movies. Wonder if that was true in real life?
