Very, very rare ... a color documentary filmed in winter 1947 - spring '48. Commissioned by the Union Rescue Mission (on Los Angeles's "Skid Row" since 1891), Of Scrap and Steel tells of how the Mission saved one homeless alcoholic (a former steel executive) and put him back on the road to success.
What's so rare? The color documentary footage of L.A.'s Skid Row. These are images that were apparently never put to film before, and most of the buildings shown are long since gone.
