As a dyed-in-the-wool fountain pen user and collector I was delighted when I recently discovered Cavallini & Co's range of reproduction 'vintage' postcards. The card stock used is very similar to the original matte surfaced card which most postcards used to be made of, and is FP-friendly, unlike most modern cards.

The first set of 'vintage' postcards which caught my eye is a series of 'Golden Era' cards of New York City, found when I visited Waterstones bookstore in Birmingham, England.

I find these cards ideally complement my 1936 first generation Parker Vacumatic fountain pen and pencil set and my 1941 First Year Parker 51 fountain pen, two ultimate classics for the vintage fan which are just as usable now as when they were new and are as good or better than the best of modern pens.

I thought Fedora Lounge members might like to see these postcards, of which there are 18 different cards in each set, presented in a wonderful matte chrome finished hinged tin. Cost is £6.99 or $15 USD plus post.

Here are a few photos - note that not all the postcards supplied in the New York City tin are shown here. Sets are also available for San Francisco and Paris amongst other subjects - see via the links below.

I think you'll agree these cards could have been made for writing on with a Vacumatic... All I need to do now is get to New York, get scribbling and send a few back to good old England!
