Road Trip - Route 40

In three weeks I'm going to be taking a road trip from Columbus, OH out state route 40 to New Jersey. While there I'm going to be visiting the War of the Worlds memorial plaque in Grovers Mill and the statue of Lou Costello in Patterson. Does anybody have suggestions of other tributes to the golden age I could visit while on old route 40?

You'll pass through Frederick, MD, where I live (wave as you go by). This town is mostly 19th century, though....rich in Civil War history. Not much happened here during the 30s and 40s.
