Dinerman,
I think I recognise your boaters, one looks like the model Worth & Worth sells, the black banded one looks like one I own from cambridge. Are these accurate, or where did you get them?

first off- welcome to the lounge!

I got the boater with the red striped band at a yard sale for a dollar. There are no tags in it, so its origin is a bit of a mystery. It's got a black sweatband, so I don't think it's really all that old.

The other boater is an old pedigree, which is way too small for me, measuring in at 6-7/8.

Best looking merchandise from JC Penney's I"ve ever seen, RBH, and the specs plus the hat are a terrific combo, I don't feel so alone anymore, now you have a college prof look to go with your wildcatter persona.

This weekend I acquired a new (non-vintage) Selentino for everyday use from Henry the Hatter in Southfield, MI. I'm quite happy with it. Here goes:

Incidentally, while I was there I was shown the new Borsalino 100% beaver, and I must say for something that had a $500 price tag, it was rather disappointing.

In my opinion it really is beoming cumbersome to have a new thread for every new hat that comes in. These threads generally die after about 15-20 posts. This (i hope) will be a long-running thread in which we can showcase new and interesting purchases. New, vintage, newsboys, fedoras, baseball caps, whatever: they're all welcome. SHOW US YOUR HATS

I begin with my new 30s (?) Mallory homburg - recently acquired from Mark the shoeshine boy. I'm very happy with it: great fit, great condition, nice wide brim (my other homburg is a stingy 60s thing). All around a great hat.

I'll go out on a precarious limb and say that i prefer Stetsons to Borsalinos. Here're my Stetsons. I think this is all of 'em that i kept.

3 Stetson Whippets (all with very different dimensions).

30s Black Select Quality Stetson.

40s Stetson 15

Light Blue Royal Stetson.

50s Stetson Stratoliner.

1951 "Bermuda Green" Stetson Playboy.

Yes, yes it is. BUT...it is still a work in progress. I've ordered some grosgrain ribbon (vintage striped) that will adorn it after the new year. It ain't over yet!
