That's stunning. It's not an original factory paint job is it?

They're great for pootling around with. You can probably wring its little engine enough to have fun on B roads :)

Original paint, warts and all. The low compression V model was pretty slow, but the VLD engine was good for at least 100mph!

I remember in the 60s, all the cool older guys either rode Triumph Bonneville's or Harley Sportster's. Probably why I have had several of each over the years! ;)

I have a 1973 R75/5. Needs some work before I can get it back on the road!

Those were and still are very goods bikes, simple to work on and parts are still easy to get. I have had several BMW bikes ( R80 GS, R65 RS ) but the R60/5 is still my favorit. The modern BMW's are high tech wonders, but they just do not do it for me.

Just signed up. So I thought I should post here first. I build my own Dual Sports from vintage BMW airheads using my own unique suspension designs.

Here's my daily ride a modded R75/6.

....but in all fairness I'm now reworking that R65 into a competition desert rally bike.

I also have a relatively stock 1977 R100RS (for the purists out there)

What can I say... I like vintage BMWs :D
