I made a discovery the other day. Seems one of the ties I recently obtained is the same design as one featured on the cover of this book:

Then, this Saturday, at an antique extravaganza I hit a small motherload. Got about two dozen for around $5 total!!

Today I'm wearing my Wilson Bros. Faultless Magic Gold tie, c.mid-'50s, which I believe was my first hand-painted. I've got six of these "splatter" ties, all in different colors, and by different makers.

Like a lot! I've wondered if the California companies that made these hand-painted ones just gave artist/employees free reign on what to paint on them.
