I'll have to remember that one. For some reason, it always irks me to see the gas and electrical meter man stomping around my backyard without notifying me first.

The only annoyance is having to answer the front door
when they ask for permission or if it's safe.

When I'm in the backyard, my cat is able to detect
someone approaching several houses away in the alley
before they get close to my area.

The only thing is that the cat reacts in this manner
regardless of whether it's a butterfly, squirrel or a
    human. :D

I have an app on my phone called Mr. Number that blocks spam phobr calls. You can block entire numbers or all numbers originating from an area code. With the implication of GDPR I have lost all 70 some odd numbers that I had set to auto block have disappeared .

The chain is a nice touch, but I've seen that bag and I think it would have been convincing enough on it's own.

    I agree with you.
But let's not forget how powerful the imagination can be.

The sight of a chain without the dog delivers a strong message as to where Cujo is waiting to
    “play” with you! :D

In the province of Ontario, utility providers have registered easements on property, which include the right to enter onto it for readings, repairs, etc., without notice. In fact, such equipment must be readily accessible, that is, we cannot impede access through any means (locked gates, etc.).

Now, if a heavy dog chain just "happens" to be there, well...

My wife and I took possession of my parents' house in 1997. It was built in 1951 and needed to be "refurbished" before we moved in--cosmetic work inside and out, new roof, updated electrical system, new plumbing, and so on. One of the requirements was that we had to relocate the gas meter from the back wall of the house to one of the side walls, and close enough to the front of the house for Gas Company personnel to be able to read it without entering the back yard. Apparently, too many of 'em had been bitten or trapped in someone's yard for hours by dogs that perceived them as trespassers. :D

It's the same here in Illinois. 10 feet from the curb (usually up to the far edge of the sidewalk if you have one) is considered an easement. However, we have a two more behind us and on our side that our neighbors don't have. Being that the line between unincorporated county and the township is directly on my parent's property with a gas/electric line running under our treeline on the easement it was not at all uncommon to see utility workers stomping across my childhood backyard. Not up the easement, across the yard. They'd park one one side because my neighbor's yard has another set of gas meters running along the back of our property feeding the rest of the neighborhood amd stomp all around our backyard to get to the others.

When I was a child, the gas company dug a ten foot hole at the edge of our property to access the gas lines one time. They left the hole there for years, which just kept getting bigger until my mother chewed out the township to come and fill their hole in. We also had to build anything on our property ten feet away from our property lines due to the extra easements. We have a large pole barn in our backyard that had to be 10 ft from our back neighbor's fence, our firepit had to be 10 ft from the easement, etc.

We get back at them, though. There's a concrete slab over the gasline with a small shed on it, an adjacent greenhouse, and a line of trees all over the gasline. My parents certainly didn't make it easy for the gas company. We also have an extra septic line going out under our neighbor's yard that was put in by the previous owner who built the house.

Not just e-sellers. I still remember the good ol' days where you had ads in comics and magazines that bore absolutely no resemblance to what you actually received if you were dumb enough to send off for them. One I got caught out on were the Sea Monkey little folk you could make friends with! One I didn't thankfully send off for was the German WWII helmet for $19.95 for sale in my Boy Scout magazines. Somebody did and got a crappy Spanish copy made out of tin or other thin metal. As back then, as now: buyer beware!

Got two nice dark bread roll-sandwiches with turkey, remoulade and seemingly white cabbage at a bigger railstation, underways.
But remoulade and white cabbage, together in your stomach. Uuum, borderline... But luckily no hurricane.

No, love doesn’t make a Subaru a Subaru. But suggesting it does must appeal to something in the target audience, something they wish to feel about themselves.

I’ve haven’t reached that age where I have to question myself
if I should or shouldn’t trust myself with regards to flatulence.

Perhaps the answer my friend is “blowing in the wind”! :D
