Thanks to you guys for all the great Flagships! I have never seen this illusive lid on ebay and wondered if it was like bigfoot--just talked about with insubstantial documentation. But the pics proove it and the boxs are delightful! I recently sold a Krofut & Knapp hat in chocolate brown--late 40s my guess--that was nearly identical

Stetson Royal Deluxe Flagship

I think this is an early 40s model but I'm not sure. 2 1/2" underwelt brim; 5 3/4" open crown; 7/8 grosgrain Gibbon; unreeded sweatband and embroidered liner tip. The hat is sort of tan but has mauve undertones.

Well, Flagship was introduced in 1946, so that's the earliest it can be made. I still think, that only the first Flagships had a petersham ribbon - the first year or two

Hey all!
I'm usually not one to quickly hit the "Buy" button. I will contact sellers, ask questions about condition, hem and haw over whether I really want the hat that badly, and then wimble for a while longer before bidding or BINing. I've lost out on a few nice lids this way. Not so in this case. It took me as long as I needed to read the Etsy listing and look at the pics for the decision to be made. Good price and free shipping helped! It arrived yesterday afternoon.

Enough words.

OK, a few more words.

It was a big 7 1/8, an easy sizing up to fit. Clean, but a little musty smell. It got a naptha bath, big improvement.
Leather is soft, supple and the stitching is good. No mothing that I have noticed.
Love the brim treatment. 5 1/4" crown, 2 5/8" brim. 129 g. fiber per serving.
Any guesses on the name of the color? Oatmeal comes to mind.
I can see now why the folks lucky enough to find one of these old beauties love them so much.

Outstanding, Moon! In an era where every Stetson was solid, superior quality and style, it must have been difficult for Stetsons designers to produce a hat that stood out as a flagship item, but they did. Your examples, and Mo's above, are amazing. Style, rarity, condition, box, these have everything going for them. BTW, what is the width of the ribbons? It appears they vary.

Thank you sir
...and Flagship ribbons definitely do vary as do the edge treatments.
I'll measure and get back to you
