Stetson Flagship

The transatlantic hat-exchange (one of them) has awarded me with this one. Royal Stetson de Luxe Flagship in a size 7. Overwelt and triple stitched brim at 7cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. You don't want a hat like this, so if you have any in a size 7 just send them to me:D
While having somewhat western sensibility with its substantial crown and wider brim this is still very much a dress hat. The felt is not stiff at all, certainly not on the crown, and is easily shaped. Nice hand to the felt as well. Usually I don't care much for petersham ribbon on my hats, but it's not a mismatch on this one for some reason.
I owe a huge thank you to Mark @M Hatman, who was generous and kind enough to let it go.
As the English say: chuffed to bits!

The Stetson Flagship is one of the top hats that captures the passion of vintage hat wearing for me. Agreed, the petersham ribbon treatment works on that hat gloriously. That is a gorgeous hat sir! Wear it in good health.

Thanks for sharing.

I had never heard the word "chuffed" before. If it hadn't been for the context, I would have imagined an opposite meaning.[emoji1]

Nice score!
Looks just like mine. Same color, ribbon, trolley and edge treatment. One of the early ones for sure! :)

Here's some hat porn for you.
This came from Massachusetts and the grandfather owned the hat, he passed away and left the house to his son who recently passed away. The granddaughter was cleaning out the house, found this box and it found me. She said that she thinks it must have been her grandfather's, she had never seen it until she found the box.
The only defect is the stitching in the rear of the sweat band has blown out. There was a note on the box that said "clean and block" so maybe that happened during a servicing or the grandchildren did it trying to see what size it is.
Here she is.

One more of those once in a lifetime finds, Steve! You will enjoy that one.

Thank you Rmccamey,
I like the “festive” look (if you will) of the hat band on your formal Sunbody fedora. I’m leaning toward ordering an Open Road style Sunbody with ventilation eyelets sooner than later. The positive comments are encouraging!

Thank you, it was just one of those things.
Maybe the original owner had some sort of health condition and the sweat band was bothering him?
An unsolved mystery!
My job is to pass it onto someone else in the same condition.
