Hello all,
I finally decided that the facebook ads looked too good and the price was reasonable enough, so I picked up a Steven Land fedora. First impressions are mixed.

Firstly, it is not as described. The description claimed a 5 3/4 crown. It is a five. It claimed diamond dent crown. It is a scoop. It claimed a 3 inch snap brim. It is a 2 1/4. It claimed a button adjuster in the band. Velcro.

The "snap brim" doesn't exactly snap down. It just sits kinda flat and lumpy. Pictures right out of the box:

So I fired up the electric kettle to get some steam going.

I tightened the pinch in the front, deepened it on the sides, and extended it further toward the back. And sloped the brim down a generous amount with a slight tilt to the right, and had to really work to get the lumps out. The ribbon, I will try to steam some more and get some of the wrinkles out, but the stitching really shows.
I found working with wool, slightly harder than with the felt I've down on my Stetsons. I don't know if that's just how wool is or if it's indicative of quality level.

All in all, the color is fantastic, and after 40 minutes or so working on it, I do like the shape. And it was pretty inexpensive to boot. Not sure I would ever recommend them though.
