Straw Hat Cleaning

Razzman's thread brought this to mind. I have a panama I recently stored away for the off season and thought I should clean it while it's off duty. Since Art isn't doing this sort of thing anymore, can anyone give me some tips on how to proceed? Is this a do it yourself thing or is there someone out there that can handle it for me? I'm sure this has been covered but my search yielded over 11 pages of threads. I guess "straw" and "cleaning" are popular words around here. :eusa_doh:

Easiest and surest way is to...

Get a bottle of Nustraw straw hat cleaner, made by Bickmore, www.bickmore.com ("Quality products since 1882," they say). I got mine from Noggintops.

Brush the loose dirt or dust off the hat, put a small amount of a damp sponge and do a small area at a time, cleaning in a circular motion, then wipe the hat with a clean, damp cloth. The stuff works.
