Sweaters?

Try something like the Austrian Army boiled wool sweater as it’s made from very dense wool that holds heat well. Or go for an Irish Aran fisherman sweater since the cable knit adds bulk and insulation. Sweaters made from worsted wool or boiled wool are usually your best bet for that “wear alone” warmth.

Almost every modern sweater/woolen item has had its original water-shedding lanolin removed from the material during processing. Exceptions exist, but always costly.

Replacing/adding Lanolin to modern wool sweaters can be complicated, but it can be done.

I can't stand restricting "crew"-neck/turtleneck collars on sweaters, so the "V" neck "Wooly-Pully" sweaters are more welcome. Quality varies, so shop around.

I just bought a Repro WW2 C-2 Sweater from Bronson which also solves another of my pet peeves with "inter-layer" insulting garments in that is has a full zipper front, and a stand-up shawl-type collar which is very compatible with lots of jackets. In fact, kinda made to go along with WW2 flight jackets.

Yes, I have plenty of USGI 5-button "pull-over" sweaters. Don't like 'em because too hard to don and doff as need requires.

I had a local tailor sew-in a "Hang Loop" of appropriate polyester material into the inside neck of the jacket, using pix of "High-End" Repros as an example. About $10, which is fair, and prevents the sweater from being ******ed up when hung on a typical hanger.

Hi,
This is such a long shot but I’m trying to help my bf out, he’s lost the sweater he’s wearing in this picture and it was his grandfathers. Of course I can’t find the actual heirloom but if someone can help me locate a duplicate. The thing is all I know is it’s wool, vintage, and Fair Isle style. He has no idea what brand but it looks similar to some Ralph Lauren items. Any help with info on identifying more specifics or if you happen to have one, please let me know. Thanks!

Exact match would be hard (like one with zipper), but the general pattern is Nordic and easy to find, circa 1994 release:
