I took the plunge and purchased the Strawfut. Originally, the pair was shipping in 4 to 5 weeks, but I received an email yesterday that they are on the way. I'll post pics when they arrive.

There is no lining on the parts that are mesh. I just received a pair from the President of Allen Edmonds. They are a bit unique, and I'll show take pics soon.

The pair I received look very much like the originals I sent in a while back for them to review. Now I have to send them a big thank you note for returning these shoes to the lineup.

The linen version is fully leather lined, while all the versions with the mesh are partially lined and open to the air.

That is too bad. I was hoping that the linen/leather ones would at least have holes punched into the lining.

Do you happen to know if the nylon mesh comes in other colours so I could get a pair in bourbon & bone?

Check out the video.

The ones made for me are a special make on the #1 last, I wanted that bigger toe box like the originals. I also asked for a Poron insole and Rendenbach soles with a leather combination heel. Very light weight, these are as close to the originals as they get.

I plan on taking them out on the dance floor tonight at the world famous Cicada Club. But first I'm going to take them on a two mile break in walk to scuff up the soles so they don't slide too much while dancing.

Thanks again to Allen Edmonds for returning this breathable style to the lineup.

COMPLETELY AMAZING!

If you don't have spectator shoes in the 21st century, you must be living in the past!

THANK-YOU MATT!!!!

Just bought mine today, and they are fantastic!

The saleswoman in the Troy store started talking about you... "A man found an old pair of these, and the CEO saw them. He saw to it they were refurbished, and then the style was added to the new lineup." I told her that I knew who you were (kind of). Many thanks for working to get these made!

Cheers,

Is it safe to use shoetrees in these as with a normal pair of shoes? Or will it distort the nylon weave? Matt, perhaps you'd know the answer... Or Tomasso, Cookie, resident shoe experts in general?

Thanks,

I got these two years ago. I know they weren't released, and I can't remember (age) how I got them. Any ideas on how this shoe existed over two years ago when it was just released? Strawfut in the middle.
