The Human Mind

What can you describe about the workings of the human mind? Emotion? Limb controls? That we only use a certain percentage of it and if we could use more we'd have mind controlling powers and could levitate? How a simple item can bring back so many memories. Why when we think so hard our mind begins to hurt? The cause of brain freeze from cold foods? How loss and stress can cause us to lose our mind?

Read somewhere that we like to think of ourselves as a single entity. We see our mind as being driven by a single master, sort of like a person in front of a complicated series of dials and switches. I can't remember the writer but he was eminently respected. He said our brain is much more like a flock of birds in which one would lead for awhile and than another would take over, etc. This is why we can be so interestingly inconsistent.

And then there's the fact that the conscious mind actually only requires a small portion of the total brain available to operate--IIRC, even Einstein only got up to 25% total brain usage...

Kinda makes ya wonder what someone could do if they could unlock it all and run it flat-out to the redline, doesn't it?

That small percentage of one's brain is the thinking center. Is not the rest constantly in use controlling the functions of the body? I.e. sight, touch, taste, heart rate, breathing, digestion, etc.

Which brings me to something I started saying in high school; "The power of the human mind is limited only by the human mind." I've found that different people take it differently.

By "taking it" do you mean understanding the statement in different perpectives?

How do you take it? Maybe it's different than the way I took it.

Say these words over and over in your mind; it is quite revealing!

YOU ARE MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE
