Ouch! I did that accidently once when taking a break in the middle of an 80-mile bike ride. Not recommended.

Absolutely! I stopped and saw this rock ledge that looked like a good place to sit. There apparently was a small cactus just past the edge of the rock that I didn't see (you don't see cactus around here much). Glad the spines were not in a more ... uh ... pressure contact area for the rest of the ride.

Floating the James River in SW Missouri in 1941 (photographer Walter Sanders for Life magazine). In front of the boat is Mary Lenna Alexander (age 16) of Branson, Missouri. Her guide is Charley Barnes (1878-1964) of Galena. He had been floating the James since the 1800s.

A lot of things had changed by the end of that year. I doubt "Lazy Fishing" was on anyone's mind as 1942 approached. Sometimes we don't know how good we've got it, until it's too late. Thanks for the post!
